Winter Solstice Strider Race Report and Result

By: Hannah Wright.

Race Date: 21/12/25.

Distance: 10 km.

The one I forgot….

Last year I entered the Winter Solstice Strider, but unfortunately it was postponed due to bad weather. I was able to defer the race to this year. Then I forgot all about it until a calendar notification popped up. Luckily the race was in the evening as I had a HM that morning.

The venue is the St. Ives Estate at Bingley and, it’s in the dark! Wearing a head torch is a must. For the 10km there is a mid way cut-off point of one hour. At first I thought that’s a generous cut-off… but in the dark, the elevation and the terrain made this more challenging, but doable. Staying upright was a challenge. There were many people falling in the mud whilst dressed as Santa.

Eventually I made it round the 10km course, I had remained upright and was caked in mud.

The race was won by Joe Walton (Trotsmen) in 00:41:53 and Ieva Jasmontaite (Vegan Runners UK) in 00:53:49 .
