Club Values

Steel City Striders aims to promote and encourage running for people of a wide range of abilities. The club is open to everyone. We respect the rights, dignity and worth of everyone.

Our club constitution outlines our ethos, conduct and how we support our members. To ensure our constitution is followed, we have a number of committed members who make up our club committee, and they oversee the governance of the club.

Alongside our committee, we have a number of working groups and teams focused on a range of areas. Our Training, Coaching and Venues Team is responsible for leading and co-ordinating training sessions and events. This includes our club captains who manage the teams for club relays events, and the club’s qualified run leaders and coaches who lead weekly club training runs. As well as the various club volunteers who give up their time to help to support charities and good causes in and around Sheffield.

Other groups that meet regularly include the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Group. Their mission statement is “to raise the profile of equality, diversity and inclusion within the club and work towards making the club representative of the Sheffield community both geographically and demographically”. This group has established an action plan to achieve key objectives focused on promoting equality, diversity and inclusivity ambitions in and outside of the club.

If you have questions about the club or some of the areas listed above, please send us a message using the contact us page.
