Percy Pud 2014 – we need your help

It’s that time of year when Christmas venue ads are starting to appear and a look at the calendar shows that our Percy Pud 10k is only a few months away. Given the problems that beset the Sheffield Half Marathon it gives us a further opportunity to establish the Percy Pud as the best race in the area.

While the Percy Pud committee do an awful lot of work behind the scenes, the success of the race on the day depends on the help of club members on the race weekend.

We require help setting up the race, directing traffic, handing out the puddings and water and marshalling out on the course. The race adjudicator recommended we have an additional 20 marshals this year.

Therefore before you enter the race, we are asking all members to consider: how many times have you run the race and how many times have you marshaled on the day? A lot of clubs do not let their members run their own club race. Others require them to marshal if they’ve run the previous year, which doesn’t seem unreasonable.

So far we have not had to do this with Percy Pud and we would like to keep it that way if possible – but it relies on us getting enough volunteers.

This year we are offering £250 to the 1st male and female to break the course record and feedback indicates that this years race will be keenly contested at the sharp end.

We need your help by marshalling on the day to make this year’s race the best yet.

Thanks to all those who have already volunteered. If you can offer help please contact Richard Dunk (Percy Pud race director) via the contact form
