Wednesday Night Graves Training

Time: 6:50 meet for a 7:00 start. Meet outside the main entrance or in reception in bad weather.

Note: as the majority of our training runs are in the evening or after dark, for your own safety please wear high visibility clothing otherwise you won’t be able to run with us.  This, and other advice can be found on our Guidelines for Running Groups page.

This is a popular and well supported club training venue, particularly in the autumn and winter. In the spring/summer a lot of members will be out doing mid-week races on the roads and fells so numbers tend to be lower.

There are usually two or three groups each week from this venue

Slower Group: 6.0 – 6.5 miles in around 60 – 70 mins.

Medium Group: 7.0 – 8.0 miles in around 70 – 80 mins.

Faster Group: 8.0 – 9.0 miles in around 80 – 85 mins.

Note: pace and distances listed are for guidance as they will always be dictated by the slowest member of each group on each night.

As with all Striders training runs, no one is left behind and the faster ones in the group will always double back for the slower ones.  So please don’t feel under pressure to run faster than you are capable.

Slower Group

Every Wednesday we are going to use a series of 6 set routes for the slower group, The aim of this is to provide routes that are only between 6 and 7 miles long so that we make a commitment to only running the pace and distance we advertise on the website

If you click on the links below, it will show you a detailed map of the route in Strava. Once the set of runs are complete, we revert back to Route 1, with the next series of runs being in reverse.

Summer Schedule

Summer runs are off road, so pace and distance may vary from listed.

As with all Striders training runs, they are completely free and newcomers are more than welcome to attend to try us out under no obligation.  Please, do come along and give us a try.

Note: From June 2017 – There is ongoing building work adjacent to Graves Tennis & Leisure Centre so parking may become an issue. There is plenty of space on Norton Lane opposite, with the pedestrian crossing at one end, or the underpass at the other to get to the Leisure Centre
