Due to ongoing concerns around the covid-19 pandemic the club are unfortunately unable to safely undertake any formal training sessions.
In the meantime, we are keen to support you to arrange runs with other Striders. A growing number of Striders are arranging this via the members Facebook page. Please feel free to continue doing this.
We are also introducing a “buddying” system to put Striders in touch with run leaders, who’ll then endeavour to put small groups in touch with each other to arrange runs. Laura Fletcher and Zoe Dickinson are organising this, please message them via the contact form with the pace/distance of the run you'd like and the area/postcode you are wanting to run in.
The Steel City Striders AGM will be held at 7pm on Thursday 21 January 2021 via Zoom.
All members have been emailed about this and will receive a further email with more details.
Among the agenda items will be election of the new chair for the Club. Our present chair, Andy Buck, is standing down after six years in this role. One nomination – Stuart Jones – has been received to replace Andy.
If you would like to nominate another member or wish to stand yourself, please contact the club secretary Norma Parkes via the contact form by Friday 15 January 2021.
Welcome to Steel City Striders Running Club – for over 35 years we have been the friendliest running club in Sheffield (#thesocialclub) and organisers of the hugely popular Percy Pud 10k race every December for over 25 years
We welcome new members, aged 18+ at any time of the year. Whether you're a new runner and training for your first race or an experienced runner you are welcome to join us or try any of our training sessions for free under no obligation.
Each and every week we run evening sessions from Hillsborough, Heeley, Graves, Millhouses and Woodburn Road track, plus a daytime session on Tuesday from Millhouses. With all training sessions lead by fully qualified and experienced England Athletics Run Leaders and Coaches.
There will be no pressure or hard sell to join as we want you to be sure we are the right club for you.
Some members within the club like to race and are very competitive, but many come for the social aspect and just enjoy running with company at their own pace. Whatever type of person you are, you are more than welcome and we will support you.
If you have any questions, please check out our Frequently Asked Questions.
