Grindleford Gallop Result

It was perfect weather for the Grindleford Gallop on Saturday 7 March. Many Steel City Striders descended on the village of Grindleford for the popular 21 mile route. The race has a great atmosphere and sells out quicker and quicker each year.

The route has 3000ft of ascent. The course takes in the villages of Grindleford, Froggatt, Eyam, Great Longstone, Edensor and Baslow linking them together with paths, tracks and open moorland of the White Peak. Famous landmarks on the way round include the Riley Graves, Longstone moor, the Monsal trail and Chatsworth Park estate. The final high-level section takes you along Baslow and Froggatt edges.

The race was won by Joe Fowler (MV40) in 2:24:56, a near course record. The first female was Jayne Lawton of Stockport Harriers (FV40) who finished in 2:57:08. Full results are on the SPORTident website.
