Race Date: Sunday 21st August 2016
Just one Strider made his way over the Snake Pass for the Birchwood 10k this year. In theory it’s a flat and fast course, but there are just enough twists and turns, rises and falls, and bottlenecks on footpaths to disrupt your rhythm.
The race was won by Jack Martin of Stockport Harriers in 32:15 (gun time), particularly impressive as his 31:27 chip time suggests he just missed the start (someone did come flying through the field in the first mile or so). The first-placed woman was Kirsty Longley of Liverpool Pembroke & Sefton Harriers in 36:52. First (and last) Strider home was Tim Holt in 38:26.
