Philadelphia Half Marathon 2019

Race Date September 15th 2019, report by Richard Pegg

Those that have been to Philadelphia may be aware that local delicacy the “Philly Cheesesteak” is best served with Wizz – a slang term for processed cheese. Unfortunately Strider Richard Pegg decided to apply Wizz to the first 6 k of the Philly Half Marathon and then burnt out in the last 6K in heat of 28C. So not a memorable run for him but an enjoyable outing in the City of Brotherly Love. A half that is really well managed – all roads are closed and stay within 5k of the Centre and the iconic Rocky Steps at the Museum of Art. Unfortunately Burgess Meredith was not around to give Peggy impetus so he limped home in 954th place in 1hr 49 mins – 649th in gender and 16th in M60-64 (out of 178)

Winner of Women’s Race in 1hr 10 mins was Caroline Rotich
Winner of Men’s Race in 1 hr 2 mins was Daniel Mesfun

Well worth adding to your bucket list!!
