Race Date: Wednesday 10th June 2015
David Perkins is definitely keeping himself busy and therefore keeping me busy writing reports. Hot on the heels of the Kimmy Kanter comes the Sandall Beat 10k trail race. A bit of background:
Organised by Doncaster Athletic Club, Sandall Beat 10k is held in Sandall Beat Wood, the most popular woodland in Doncaster. The woodland was established in the early 1800’s and it is recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Local Nature Reserve. The woodland covers 140 acres and it is well served by many woodland trails making it the ideal venue for this 10K race. The surface conditions are in general, well made trails, grass, stone and a few hundred metres of tarmac pavement towards the finish.
This midweek event attracted 306 runners including 2 Striders. The race was won by Paul Marchant of Rothwell Harriers in 34.26. First lady home was Rebecca Winter of Ackworth Roadrunners in 41.43
