Three Striders braved the February cold to bring a bit of Steel City love to rural Lincolnshire at the Stamford St Valentine’s 30k.
The undulating course is recognised a tough tester for those planning a spring marathon – far enough into training to give good feedback on progress but not too close to sap your legs ahead of the main event.
For the second year running, Aaron Scott (Notts AC) held of Stuart Spencer for a tight fought win, finishing in 1:37:53 – remarkably just a second outside his own course record, set last year. Top marks for consistency!
First lady was Phillipa Taylor (Nene Valley Harriers), coming in with a time of 2:00:30 and 35th overall.
