Race Date: Sunday 28th August 2016

An Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) run, raced in that order and without a break.

All I can say is massive kudos indeed to Kate Wilkinson and Adam Whitworth for their performances in last weekend’s Vicky Ironman. In Kate’s own words:

Well we are now iron striders! Ironman vichy completed in 11:14 plus a bonus marathon pb in my first marathon since 2005. Adam Whitworth finished strong in 13:30. Fantastic experience and we can both still walk. Might even do another one….

Brilliant effort indeed. The race had 1822 entrants and was won by Harry Wiltshire of GBR in 8.17.14. The first woman was Catherine Faux also of GBR in 9.13.40.
