Peak District Autumn Trail Run #2 Biggin – 2021 report by John Armitage

John Armitage

Race date: 17 October 2021

Distances: Long 15.9 km; short 5.35 km

Dark & White Events put on their second race of the Autumn Series this weekend, with race HQ at Biggin Village Hall. A ten-minute walk took competitors onto the Tissington Trail, where both the Long & Short Course began, in different directions. Conditions could only be described as ‘miserable’ but dark clouds and constant drizzle weren’t going to put us off!

Steel City Striders were represented on the Long Course, which started with a leisurely three miles along the trail, before subjecting us to a murderous descent towards Milldale! The route then wound its way alongside the River Dove for several miles of absolutely beautiful scenery. We ran up Wolfscote Dale with the river on our left, and huge limestone banks to our right, towards Hartington, eventually climbing back up into Biggin.

The Short Course race was won by Szilard Krizmanics (unattached) in 00:21:08, and the first lady was Michelle Clemmens (Rotherham Harriers and AC) finishing in 00:27:34; The Long Course race was won by Andy Harding of Belper Ten Twenty Triathlon Club in 01:04:26, and the first lady was Sally Hook of Totley AC finishing in 01:21:54
