Race Date: Wednesday 6th August 2025
Race Report by: Martin Downham
Another KMR Race and another race name change and another altered route, (which now apparently features an out and back section). The name change probably reflects the move of Race HQ from The Butchers Arms. The route change background is still tbc.
Sadly the closure of the M18 Motorway meant that I, and a number of other runners, weren’t able to get to the start for the delayed 7.30pm start (originally scheduled for 7pm).
According to Strava from someone who did run it, the distance for the new route is 6.41km and the total elevation gain comes in at a comfortable 62m.
Race HQ is now the Ruddle Centre, Braithwell- what3words – ///doubts.epidemics.gets – S66 7BA.
This was the third race in this year’s KMR series organised by Maltby Running Club. It’s described as a 4-ish mile mixed terrain race starting in Braithwell.
Entry for unaffiliated is £10, affiliated £8. Minimum age for entries is 16 on the day. This race is being run under UKA rules.
An important point for this year’s KMR series that it’s ONLINE ENTRY ONLY. There are NO ON THE NIGHT ENTRIES.
Thanks go to Maltby Running Club and the marshals, who had a challenging evening with many competitor’s stuck in traffic.
I think a lot of the pre-entered runners gave up (en-route) and went home. The call of the chip butty was however enough to get me to Race HQ, (to eat – and drink) just a little too late to race.
Moving on now and looking forward to the next KMR Race which is the greatly anticipated Stan’s Toffee Run. S74 8EP I’m just about over the trauma of falling on the final section here, so bring it on.
The race was won by Harry McGregor of Rotherham Running Club in 23:06. The first female finisher was Hannah Miller or Worksop Harriers and AC in 24:37.
Striders results: Unfortunately we had no finishers listed in the results due to the closure of the M18. Myself and Simon Gleadhall didn’t make it this time.
