Race Date: Friday 29th August 2025
Previously recommended by Jon Smith as a potential pb course after he ran here in the Spring, things didn’t go quite as planned this time around as he confessed to “not having the kick at the end to break 17:30” falling six seconds short of his pb. Similarly, Ed Brooks was only a few seconds short of his pb which, incidentally, was also run at this event.
All was not doom and gloom however with John Kilcoyne breaking the existing Steel City M45 club record by four seconds despite the course “being stupidly busy, particularly in the middle section on a single track country lane“. With 997 finishers in a 5k race it’s not surprising that things got congested in places. No problems for Sarah-Jane Brown though who ran a new personal best and getting under twenty minutes for the first time in the process.
