Race Date: Sunday 7th September 2025
One of the few longer distance races that still pass the (old) Phil Howson financial test, as in £1 per mile not the (new) Phil Howson financial test of £1 per km. It looks like I’m inferring that Phil Howson is old – well he is.
Anyway, at £13 for 17 hilly miles, this race is a steal. Sadly, there aren’t many thieves around as attendance was once again disappointing. This race is a classic and deserves much stronger support then it currently gets. It’s one of my favourites and is penned into the calendar as soon as the date is released. I like it that much that one BGR training day, I ran it clockwise then turned rounded and ran it anti clockwise.
This year the weather was pretty kind. Not as hot as previous years but a bit muggy at times. There were 96 finishers with the male race winner being Felix Watts of DPFR in 2.27.08 and the female race winner being Sally Fawcett, also of DPFR, in 2.41.04. Only 3 Striders were brave enough to be Exterminated
