Race Date: Sunday 18th May 2025
It was a hot day elsewhere in the UK, but cloud cover made for reasonably cool conditions at the Holymoorside 10k this year. The race takes place on a single loop of quiet tarmac lanes out west of the village, with a lap of the field in front of the village hall to finish.
Smoothing over a couple of lumps and bumps, the route elevation can be summarised as an immediate 4km climb, followed by 6km downhill. Many runners beat their official 5k PB on that long downhill.
Holymoorside was Race 5 in this year’s Strider Road Championships/League, so there was a fairly high club turnout.
Finishers received a notepad & pen rather than a medal or tee, and the village hall Race HQ had a nice fete atmosphere with stalls and great selection of cakes in the hall.

Thirty-three Striders were among 236 finishers at the Holymoorside 10k. The men’s race was won by Thomas Shaw (unaffiliated) in a time of 0:35:32. Hannah Walker-Howard of Dronfield RC won the women’s race in a time of 0:40:10. No category results have been published as yet, I’ll add them when they become available.
