Leeds 10k 2025 report by Victoria Johnson

Kevin Wong, Victoria Johnson and Humphrey Fu

Race date: 15 June 2025

Race distance: 10km

Leeds 10km was held on 15th June, starting at Leeds University’s Parkinson Building and finishing outside Leeds Art Gallery. This is a regular event in my race calendar as, having grown up in Leeds, it is an excuse to see my family too.

After a slightly disappointing Rother Valley Relays I had got myself back onto a proper training plan (Pfitzinger 8-10k schedule 1) as I can’t be trusted to do things without being told to. I was keen to see how this new regime was going but wasn’t expecting anything outstanding. As it goes, the course is net downhill (despite an otherwise undulating profile) so I’m hesitant to take any performance here as a true indication of my race fitness, however it is hard not to feel good about getting yourself over the top of the hill between 8 and 9km and flying downhill to the finish line. I did better than I had expected I would so that was a pleasant surprise.

As always with Run for All, the party bags were pretty good, with a bag of crisps and a proper full-sized chocolate bar, as well as other bits and pieces like hydration tablets, a sports drink and the like. The crowd support was also great and there were drummers and a rock choir en route.

There were 5171 finishers. The winners were Heather Townsend of Leeds City AC in a time of 0:33:39 and Yohanes Ghebregergis (unaffiliated) in 0:30:38.
