Race Date: Sunday 2nd November 2025
Running 2:24:45 and finishing in seventh place, International Jess Warner-Judd is the first British woman to break 2:00 for 800m and 2:25 for the marathon but her range doesn’t extend to that of our 400m/800m specialist Kate Scott who reports on her race.

Beware of sightseeing. The curse of many a marathon abroad.
“Wow that was an immense experience with the loudest cheering out of the five marathons that I have completed which include both Berlin and London. It was also the toughest. Very slick from ferry to bus transport to free coffee, bagels and hat to super organised corrals and toilets. Rewarded at the finish with a shiny gold medal, fleece lined poncho and great goodie bag with long sleeved t-shirt picked up before the race at the Expo.

Pink wave at the start on the bottom tier of the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge with more starting on the upper tier. It was so congested that there was time for a selfie. Whilst the elites were off at 8:30am and 09:00am Kate’s start was much later and it was already feeling warm.
With bright sunshine and only a slight breeze it felt like it was warming up as the day progressed but so happy to be sub four with 3:57:15. My previous best was 3:44:16 at Manchester with 3:45 at Berlin last year which qualified me for this race. I said it would be either side of four hours and so glad it was the right side smashing the GFA time average of 4:20. Tough bridges to cross followed by some lovely downs but Central Park went on for ever. The last mile felt like it was five, putting in a sprint at 200m (400m is my usual distance) to reach that line.

Energy to burn at the moment.
The two days of sightseeing before didn’t help but wouldn’t change a thing as we are in that family holiday experience together. I was reduced to a waddle after the race – it was so far to walk to meet family”.

Kate is always smiling but that grin is bigger than ever as that poncho will be very useful at races.
First were Benson Kipruto (Ken) 2:09:08 and Hellen Obiri (Ken) 2;19:51 with 59,129 finishers
