Race date: Sunday 17th August 2025
Race report by Hannah Wright
Venue: Shipley County Park
Laps completed: 7 (37.63 km / 23.3 miles)
I am rather enjoying lap events this year. It has taken the pressure off chasing pbs and it’s up to you how many you complete in the 6 hours.
I headed down to Shipley County Park (under an hour away on the m1), armed with gels and plenty of electrolytes. It was going to be a hot day.
The entry fee is smaller for this event as they use up left over medals from previous races to save on waste.
For this event each lap was just over 5km with a total elevation gain of just 82 meters for each loop. My plan was to complete 6 loops – a loop per hour allowing time for snacks and toilet breaks.
After the first few loops I was ahead of schedule allowing me to fit in a 7th loop.
After 7th loop I rang the bell.
As always the event was friendly, well organized and suitable for all abilities.
The winner was Thomas Mitchell who completed 11 laps (59.13 km) in 05:30:53 and the winning woman was Sophie Thornton who completed 8 laps (43.00 km) in 04:50:39.
