Distance competed: 6 laps. 34.72 km (21.574 miles)
After not the best nights sleep due the extreme heat, I headed to Sherwood Pines to take on the Rasselbock challenge.
The event is a six-hour challenge on a looped course around the beautiful forest which is looked after by the UK Forestry Commission. With each loop 5.78 km starting and finishing at the event village. The event village offers a place of sanctuary after each loop with plenty of snacks and fluid available.
During the event we encountered everything from hot weather to heavy downpours. Trail shoes are advised as there are narrow forest paths and undulating gravel paths.
My race plan was to complete each loop in under an hour to allow time for snacks and fluids before the next loop. I had set a target of 6 loops which I managed to complete.
The race was won by: Chris Gabbott (of no identified club) who completed 12 laps (69.44 km) in 05:54:36 and Helen Harrington (of no identified club) who completed 10 laps (57.87 km) in 05:43:40 .
